Katy Heins is the co-director of a new national initiative, Bridge to Power that has ten organizational members from nine states.  The purpose of Bridge to Power is to transform our communities and wield collective power to amplify local housing solutions and actions that lead to collaboration nationally to win homes for all. Before founding Bridge to Power, Katy was the deputy director of the Housing Justice Team at Community Change.  She served as the lead staff for the Team's statewide power-building organizing strategy. Katy played a pivotal role in establishing and fostering the growth of four statewide power-building organizations in collaboration with state advocacy and policy organizations. This collaboration has led to significant advancements in leadership development and successful housing policy wins in those states. During her fourteen year tenure at Community Change, Katy contributed to various campaigns, including organizing on affordable housing, national health care, immigrant rights, and jobs. Prior to joining Community Change, Katy served as the Executive Director of the Contact Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. In this role, she organized with predominantly women on public assistance addressing issues related to income support, food stamps, child care, and health care.
